About Us

The mission of Friends of Athletic Fields (FAF) is to increase the quantity and quality of athletic fields for all recreational playfield users. FAF will accomplish our mission as a non-profit, volunteer organization through a combination of outreach and education of playfield providers (primarily parks departments and schools), field users, and other interested stakeholders.  Outreach efforts will include contact with appropriate elected government officials and government and organization staff and employees.

FAF will share its expertise and guidance on how to work together as field users and communities to increase and improve the quality of athletic fields.  This portion of the mission may be accomplished through seminars, op-ed articles, contact with government and community leaders, and through its literature and marketing techniques.

Friends of Athletic Fields will openly share information with interested members on all aspects of field planning, management, construction, renovation, and maintenance.

Friends of Athletic Fields will not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, or religious preference.  Furthermore, Friends of Athletic Fields will seek participation from all persons with an interest or expertise or desire to increase or improve the quantity and quality of athletic fields.

FAF generally holds monthly meetings either in person or virtually and often precedes meetings with a site visit to nearby playfields to learn more about local playfield conditions. FAF is organized with up to nine boardmembers representing the various playfield advocates and recreational sports leagues that use playfields and strives to represent the various neighborhoods around Seattle and beyond.
